About this deal

Galaxy SmartTag+ needs to be paired with UWB-enabled Galaxy smartphones with Android 11 or higher to fully function. While the device is inside of the Bluetooth range (120 meters), it can play a ringtone using its inbuilt Piezoelectric speaker to alert the user of its exact location audibly, using a volume between 85 - 96 dB (unobstructed).

Close up, the tag is located using ultra-precise UWB transmissions but as you get farther away from the tag, Bluetooth takes over. As you’ll soon see, when I was setting up a SmartTag Plus, its battery was nearly dead and I needed to replace it to continue configuring the device. You won’t need to replace the battery very often as it’ll last about 165 days which is around five months.Never lose your keys again with the sleek, Official Samsung Galaxy SmartTag Bluetooth Compatible Tracker in Blue . The data is then relayed to my phone where it shows up on the Find map with the explanation “Spotted by a nearby Galaxy device. There was no need to simulate losing things because the SmartTag Plus ecosystem twice helped bring my lost keys back from a parallel universe. Track easily losable items and always know where they are with the original Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+ Bluetooth tracker. The core location-tracking feature of the Tag+ is also based around Bluetooth, and so is subject to the usual electromagnetic limitations of that standard.

If the device is outside of the Bluetooth LE range, the device can still be located using Samsung's SmartThings Find Network, which uses the internet connection and GPS location of other Samsung Galaxy phones in the area to anonymously pinpoint the location of the SmartTag to the owner.I spent two weeks using a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra phone and the SmartTags+ to play lost and found with tagged items. On a Samsung phone, the option to scan for unknown tags nearby is hidden under several layers of menus in the SmartThings app.

If the item is outside of your Bluetooth range, SmartThings Find will use other devices, safely and securely, to help find your device. You will get more precise nearby tracking through UWB (ultra-wideband) technology and an impressive AR (augmented reality) option. Another way the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag Plus tracks location is by being hooked up to the SmartThings Find network which uses other Galaxy devices to help pinpoint the location, giving more possibilities and more precision.Attach it to your keys or you bag and, in theory, the accompanying SmartThings app can tell you where in the world it is. Different colors are available including black and denim blue for both models, and oatmeal for the standard SmartTag.
