About this deal

As we are used to from Revopoint, the device comes with a lot of extras. It’s practically everything you need to get started with the Revopoint MINI 3D scanner. With this technology, the MINI is able to scan at a speed of up to 10 FPS within a capture range of 64 x 118 mm. Revopoint has announced an impressive precision of up to 0.02 mm, and a mesh resolution of up to 0.02 mm (which basically corresponds to the distance between each point in the final mesh). What can you do with the MINI?

Not surprisingly, 3D scanning the included statue gives excellent results. Despite its 6 cm / 2.5″ height, the level of detail captured by the Revopoint MINI was quite impressive. Shining3D’s Einscan 3D scanners are a step up from Revopoint’s devices, both in quality and in price. But since there aren’t any other desktop 3D scanners in between, the Einscan SE and Einscan SP can be considered the nearest competitors of Revopoint’s offerings. You can combine this with a smartphone for a fully portable 3D scanning solution. For this, you will need a reasonably modern (i.e. fast) smartphone that has the free Revo Scan app installed ( Android / iOS).

Looking for a career in additive manufacturing? Visit 3D Printing Jobs for a selection of roles in the industry. This is to prevent alignment issues between scans, which lead to holes or inaccuracies in the final model. The Revopoint MINI uses the same software suite as the rest of Revopoint’s 3D scanners. It consists of three separate pieces of software that each have their own purpose: The easiest way to scan objects like these is with the turntable. It keeps the object in place while you capture it from different angles. If it is your first time using a 3D scanner, we recommend using the included white statuette that comes with the Revopoint MINI. It is white, so it reflects light well, and it has a nice variety of surface features.scanning and 3D printing are complementary technologies, so it makes sense that at some point users will want to make 3D prints from the 3D scans that they are making. Revo Scan 5 is able to export mesh .stl files that can be used for this purpose. The built-in mesh editing tools reduce the number of external tools that are needed to create a print-ready model. It’s also suitable for both outdoor and indoor use.

Revopoint has developed three powerful software for obtaining an even more perfect model: the 3D scanning software Revo Scan, the professional model editing software Revo Studio, and the calibration software Revo Calibration. Each of these software can be utilized at different stages of the scanning process to assist in creating a high-precision 3D scan that captures every inch of detail the user seeks to include. The minimum volume, however, is a mere 10x10x10 mm (3/8″ x 3/8″ x 3/8″). This is one of the smallest volumes that we’ve seen from a desktop 3D scanner and is a big advantage if you want to scan small objects. Because the wavelength of blue light is shorter than that of infrared, the MINI is able to capture much smaller details. This makes it ideal for scanning small objects with intricate features. We’ll go into more detail on the accessories a bit later, but suffice it to say that being able to 3D scan in both modes is a big advantage. Due to their similarities and the fact they’re all three based on the same design and structured light technology, it’s challenging to select a clear winner. They are all three excellent choices suitable for a different set of users and applications.Additionally, Revopoint will showcase the MIRACO 3D Scanner at Booth E01 in Hall 12.1 during Formnext 2023. We still had the power bank from our Revopoint POP 2 review, so that’s what you are seeing in the photo above. The MINI’s industrial-grade scanner precision of 0.02mm allows even the tiniest parts to be accurately scanned and presented as such. The output model has a high density of point clouds with a 0.05mm point distance. You can use the MINI for dental cast making, jewelry design, garage kit reproduction, miniature 3D model making, and other fields and instances in which obtaining detailed high-precision models is necessary.

To create a model for 3D printing, the point cloud needs to be reduced before meshing. Because this scan was made using “High Quality” mode, the dense point cloud needs to be simplified and smoothed using the Point Cloud editing tools. Once the point cloud has been reduced, the model can be meshed and prepared for 3D printing. The model orientation is “as-scanned”, so it needs to be rotated before printing. In addition, the bottom isn’t completely flat and needs to be cut to give it a flat base for printing. It’s a simple spring-loaded mount that you can attach to the tripod. All three Revopoint scanners offer color scanning through high-precision color texture capture, but the Revopoint POP 2 pushes the envelope a little further than its siblings with improved color accuracy. Neither 3D scanner is focused on scanning small, detailed objects like the MINI is, but they both offer a better scanning experience overall. In our experience, Shining3D’s software provides better results with less effort.Once the turntable has completed one revolution, the 3D scanner has captured enough data to generate a decent first draft of the model. You can now pause the scan. The Revopoint MINI employs dual camera blue structured light technology consisting of two IR sensors, a Class 1 blue light projector, and an RGB sensor. Revopoint MINI has a scanning speed of up to 10 frames per second. With the help of upgraded intelligent algorithms, it can significantly reduce stitching errors in successive scanning. The integration of a proprietary chip allows MINI to directly output 3D data.
