About this deal

Transformers typically has that, by default. The motivations, the world building, the contextualisation of the titular Giant Alien Robots. Most of this series however, is (dense) talking heads. It's like Star Trek, mixed with the humour of Red Dwarf, in Robot Cosplay. I imagine the appeal is akin to the Disney approach to Marvel Movies. Generalise and dilute the source material to make it as accessible to the general audience as possible.

Collects The Transformers (2009) #23: "Chaos Theory Part 2", Autocracy #9: "Transformation", Transformers (2019) #6: "Orion Pax: Free Fall", Optimus Prime #25: "Post", and The Transformers (1984) #24: "Afterdeath!". Also included are the first issues of the UK run of Transformers stories, which filled in weekly between the monthly US comics. IDW banner for SDCC 2005 booth - and later re-used on 2006 as TF Infiltration variant cover!"— Guido Guidi on DeviantArt, 2006-12-08 The stories from the 1987 annual are scattered. " Vicious Circle!" is placed in volume 8 alongside UK #113-120, collectively forming the first "post-movie" storyline. "What's In a Name?" is placed in volume 11 directly before UK #135-136, which developed its premise further. " Ark Duty" is also thrown into volume 11, after UK #146-151... despite chronologically taking place some time before that story. Collects Dark Cybertron #1, More than Meets the Eye issues #23–27, and Robots in Disguise issues #23–27, Dark Cybertron Finale, and Windblade (2014) issues #1–4.

John-Paul Bove on the Transmasters UK forums: "Raiders has been coloured to match as closely as possible the original. As far as I can tell the original was coloured in marker pen! This involved some exceptionally detailed hi res scans and taking the texture and colour choices from the original (including a Megs with a lot of gold!). There were two changes made to the originals, one was a colouring error pointed out by Mike Collins himself that affected the linework (see if you can spot it) that I corrected and the other was that the Guardian colours were changed to match all subsequent appearances. When he is taken down he is left a solid colour in that Yomtovy way of doing things." I've mentioned on a couple of occasions prior to the part work, there were only two G1 stories that I really liked from Marvel. One was 'Peace' (by Richard Starkings/Alan & Robin Smith) which in my view is the only possible ending to the Transformers story that really works, thematically. It is quite funny, reading the wiki, that IDW's James Roberts commented during the original stories release on how bleak the ending is. The Transformers: Robots in Disguise is a comic series begun by IDW Publishing in 2012. The series initially focused on Bumblebee and the Autobots trying to organize peace among the NAILs and Decepticons and bring Cybertron to a new Golden Age. Later issues follow the adventures of Optimus Prime as he reassumes command, the further exploits of the Transformers on Earth and the resurgence of combination technology that ultimately culminates in Earth choosing to join the galactic community.

Though events briefly escalate into a massive showdown between the Autobots, the Junkions, and their Sharkticon slaves, Optimus — remembering the series of events that led him down a road of violence in the past — ultimately salvages the situation, convincing the Junkions begin construction of " Little Cybertron," a new city and embassy for mechanical life-forms on Earth. As Pyra Magna's faith in her leader wanes, she finds unlikely allies of her own starting with the young colonist Slide, left embittered by the death of her brother during the Junkion crisis. Whirl - I understand why he is visually different from the rest of the cast, being familiar with the history of his toy, and the way they tried to explain that away in Shadowplay was a nice touch. However, to me he is one of the worst characters in IDWverse, an Extreme 90's archetype that falls flat. So much so I think the book would have been better without him. Bonus material includes information about the end of the IDW Universe, a cover gallery and an intro by Simon Furman. Postcard-sized pieces featuring the cast of Infiltration: Vol 1 (Ironhide), 26 (Blitzwing), Vol 35 (Optimus), and Vol 59 (Ratchet) [31] Collects Primacy issues #1– 4, Robots in Disguise issues #19–20 & #21–22, and More than Meets the Eye issues #17– 21, #22& " The Sound of Breaking Glass".

The Transformers Volume 7: Combiner Wars First Strike ( April 8, 2015) ISBN 1631402854 / ISBN 978-1631402852 Volume 3 presents UK #41-50 before US #11-12, when they should be the other way around. Apparently this was a deliberate decision to place focus on the UK story the volume was centred around! [5] It’s a difficult balancing act. Some fans bemoan the fact that IDW put so much focus on some of the ‘lesser’ characters such as Tailgate and Rewind, but you also get people complaining when the ‘core’ cast (Prime, Bee, Megs etc.) are overused. You’re never going to please everybody. Besides which, the Blaster spotlight was a relatively early issue. You can’t really blame Roberts for wanting to pursue his own storylines rather than tie up stuff from previous eras. The Gift", UK #93's seasonal story by James Hill, is omitted; it should be placed in volume 6 between US #22 and US #23. Collects The Transformers (2012) issues #51–55 & #56–57, Till All Are One issues #1–4, Titans Return #1, and More than Meets the Eye issues #56–57.

Set prior to the war between Autobots and Decepticons, Transformers takes place on a thriving, peaceful Cybertron that serves as an interstellar commerce hub. The era of peace is brought to an unexpected end, however, when the planet experiences its first murder in living memory. [1] Creative team I'd kept my issues sealed so I hadn't noticed, but sure enough, it was inside the cover of Vol. 18.The Transformers: Robots in Disguise Volume 5 ( December 4, 2013) ISBN 1613778368 / ISBN 978-1613778364 The book is the rare Transformers-related thing not to have the Transformers brand appear on its front cover. In trade format however, it is Transformers: Optimus Prime, Volume 1. Liars A to D and Shadowplay, were two of the newest collections of the Part Work and while some stories were interesting concepts, the overall impression I have of the first 13 (+ annual) issues of the much lauded MTMTE is Underwhelming. A profile on Derek Yaniger, a outro by Simon Furman including [small-scale scans of] " War Zone", their second UK-original G2 strip.
