About this deal

The lower, flatter Viper shape (left and right) compared to the taller, rounder G Pro X Superlight (center) Michael Gariffo Performance We've added a link to the newly-reviewed Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT in the Sensor Specifications of this review.

We previously incorrectly stated that this mouse works on glass when, in fact, it doesn't. The review has been updated to reflect this change. Each time the button is pressed, the PPP on the mouse changes—illustrated by an LED light near the mouse’s scroll wheel which changes from green, to blue, to teal, to yellow. More: SteelSeries Aerox 5 Wireless review: Can a mouse do too much? | SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless review: The best MMO/MOBA mouse you can buy The RVU's smaller, more angular feet versus the Viper V2 Pro's more rounded, larger trio Michael Gariffo Side note: There are cleverly-hidden holes beneath the label and feet. If you'd like to see them, visit BeardedBob's YouTube video on his efforts to make the V2 Pro even lighter. His channel is also a great resource on mouse modding in general.A lightning-fast bolt of green electrical energy surges into the Razer Viper V2 Pro, supercharging it. We cut to an extreme close up of the sensor once again, as the mouse hovers with a red laser pointing towards the mouse mat. A slider appears parallel to the laser and starts adjusting up and down, highlighting how customizable the sensor is. The mouse starts to float as the green energy causes parts of it to disintegrate, revealing a newer, lighter form underneath. We've added a link to the newly-reviewed Razer Viper Mini Signature Edition in the Sensor Specifications section of this review. The changes to the V2 Pro's feet are much more impactful. The RVU was often called out for having not only some of the smallest feet of its generation of gaming mice, but some of the most sharply angled. Those 90-degree turns and relatively small surface area could create unwanted resistance on softer mousing surfaces. I added some aftermarket feet to my unit to lessen this exact issue.

Each time the button is pressed, the DPI on the mouse changes—illustrated by an LED light near the mouse’s scroll wheel which changes from green, to blue, to teal, to yellow. Its impressive performance wipes out the competition, represented by a holographic map littered with red crosses. The Razer Viper V2 Pro is a strong choice for a gaming mouse, depending on how you intend to use it. I can only recommend this mouse to serious competitive gamers or those that are part of the esports community. Only they would be able to appreciate and notice the performance enhancements the mouse delivers. Even then, I would not recommend it as an all-purpose mouse. This is something you whip out during competition exclusively, as its lithe frame and ergonomics may throw off non-competitive players. But losing RGB doesn't make Razer's customization software, Razer Synapse, any less robust. Sure, there are no lights to customize, but you're free to calibrate, tweak, and adjust sensitivities, power levels, and much more to your heart's content. The mouse offers five DPI settings, though you're limited to just one onboard profile. You can also make use of Razer Hypershift, which temporarily adds a secondary set of functions atop your existing button assignments, effectively adding an additional set of custom key bindings. This is ideal for strategy games and MMOs, where having multiple shortcuts on hand can improve control tenfold. We've added a link to the newly-reviewed ASUS ROG Harpe Ace Aim Lab Edition in the Wireless Versatility section of this review.

There’s no easy way to tell how much battery life the Viper V3 HyperSpeed has left, unfortunately — there’s a small battery icon in the upper right corner of Synapse 3, but it only gives you a rough visual estimate of the mouse’s remaining battery life (no percentage). The mouse does have a single LED indicator light in front of the scroll wheel that lights up green when it’s connected to the dongle; this may light up when the mouse’s battery life hits a certain threshold butI have yet to get there (and even if it does, it’s still just a rough visual estimate). Bottom Line We've converted this review to Test Bench 1.4. This update modifies our Hand Size Recommendation test, adding a more granular hand size recommendation chart. We've moved several minor tests into different test groups, removed the Travel usage, and added a new Raw Performance usage. For more details, you can see our full changelog here. We've added a link to the newly-reviewed Vaxee XE Wireless in the Configuration Software section of this review. The Razer Viper V3 HyperSpeed is Razer’s latest addition to its popular Viper line, which is known for its light weight and generally ambidextrous shape. But there’s no Viper V3 Pro (yet) — the predecessor to the Viper V3 HyperSpeed is the Viper V2 Pro. So it’s not just a stripped-down version of the Viper V2 Pro: the Viper V3 HyperSpeed sports a redesign, including some noticeable tweaks to comfort and feel and a forward-shifted sensor. I compared Logitech's G303 shroud edition to a sports car in my review of it. In its case, the analogy pointed to its shape being less-than-ideal for comfort, but excellent for accuracy. The comparison might be even more apt for the V2 Pro. But, instead of sacrificing comfort for accuracy, you're sacrificing a few features from the previous generation for reduced weight. We've converted this review to Test Bench 1.5. This update adds a new Main Button test group, which provides button actuation data and switch information. We've also made minor changes to how we calculate the Office usage score. For more details, you can see our full changelog here. Forget everything you've ever known about Razer gaming mice - there's no RGB here. While Chroma fans may be disappointed, I'm more than happy to sacrifice a few LEDs for the sake of such a battery increase. Everything about the Razer Viper V2 Pro has been streamlined for performance, and nowhere is that more visible than in the feature list. We cut to an extreme close up of the SENSORE once again, as the mouse hovers with a red laser pointing towards the mouse mat. A slider appears parallel to the laser and starts adjusting up and down, highlighting how customizable the SENSORE is. We've added a link to the recently reviewed Finalmouse Starlight Pro - TenZ within the Weight section of this review.
