Founded in 1992 to target the emerging mobile computing market, Clove Technology has grown and adapted into what you see today. The apparent inability of the B535 to perform CLAT encapsulation of IPv4 traffic from the USG (I can see no evidence of this ever working). There’s also the Vodafone GigaCube 4G, which has similar download speeds, but is worse for uploads (up to 50Mbps) and simultaneous connections (up to 20). It’s worth noting that you’ll still get better performance from a 5G router such as the 5G version of the Vodafone GigaCube, but that depends on you having 5G coverage, and often costs most.

The 4GEE Home Router 2 meanwhile matches the Huawei B535 / Huawei HomeFi Plus for speed, and can connect up to 64 devices at once, but it has two (rather than four) ethernet ports.

It looks fine, and for better or worse it won’t stand out as much as the aforementioned Huawei AI Cube, or even the likes of the Vodafone GigaCube, which is plain too but has a more noticeable tower-like design. Here’s where things get a bit more complicated, as while the Huawei B535 WebBox is a good performer by 4G router standards, it’s no match for a 5G router or many wired connections. Meaning it can provide a smooth and stable Wi-Fi experience without the hassle of manually having to select the best signal. As for software, this isn’t something you’ll likely be interacting with much, but the Huawei B535 WebBox does have a simple web interface, allowing you to configure settings and read messages – as there’s no display, you have to access this from an external device. High Speed WiFi and 4G LTE connectivity along with ethernet connections give you multiple ways to connect.

Plenty of traffic -- such as requests to DNS servers -- goes outbound from the USG to the B535 but, apart from ping responses, absolutely nothing comes back. Complete interface for experts: Reservation of IP and MAC addresses, Selection of frequencies, Change of router IP, DDNS, Integrated L2TP PPTP VPN client, supports SMS reception and transmission . Plus, the Huawei B535 has four ethernet ports for wired connections, which is more than most rivals, and there are two sockets for connecting an external SMA antenna to improve performance.

We’ve mentioned three of the main alternatives elsewhere in this review – the Three 5G Hub, the Three 4G Hub, and the 4GEE Home Router 2. I’m pretty sure that if I could get the v4 connection to work (which I can’t, so far), in either mode, it would solve the problem. I think what we need to do is to test another Vodafone SIM in the Gigacube that we supplied, to rule out any faults - the easiest way for us to do that if you don't have one available, is to send you a new SIM out.Of course, it’s no match for a 5G router like the Three 5G Hub, which averages 100Mbps and tops out at much, much higher. Instead, I got hold of an unlocked Huawei B535-333 4G wireless router (though it’s unbranded) and a pair of antennae. No broadband, no network cable, insert a Nano-SIM, connect to power, turn on Wi-Fi and get speeds of 300Mbps. The B535 also has four 1Gb ethernet ports giving you high speed connection via cable to your devices. Please note it is the purchaser’s responsibility to check the strength of the mobile signal at the location you will install the router.
