About this deal

The paper is struggling to get advertising revenue so they decide to spice things up a bit by producing a true crime podcast.

While I was definitely interested in knowing what came next and I enjoyed the slow reveal of the information discovered during the investigation and its impact on the various characters, I don’t imagine it’s going to be one of those books that lingers in my mind, with me thinking about the characters weeks later.

I love a good psychological thriller, and even more so when I can listen to the voices play it out while I drive. But now the small newspaper where she works wants to produce a podcast on a cold case: the disappearance twelve years ago of little Molly Forster. Second, understandably but still, Rachel (aka Molly of "Missing Molly") is dithery and has panic attacks over things large and small and in between.

I had never heard anyone talk about this book until my favorite blogger, Emily Gemma of The Sweetest Thing, mentioned she was listening to it on Audible. Which leaves us asking, why did Garrett put up that reward money and needlessly involve himself in the case back in 2006? Additionally they interview the supposed lover of molly and give him a platform, then the update they totally trash the guy and tell about how he did a drug deal in front of the interviewer, maybe don’t be afraid to put these facts out before his death other than trying to bring attention to this terrible podcast. Rachel has a life now - a boyfriend she loves and a three-year-old daughter she adores - and she will do anything to protect them. They raise a bunch of questions about a sex and drug ring in Charlottesville but are too cowardly to put a name or identify sources or even talk to police about it to confirm things. Two: Again, very hard to believe that when someone's identity is in question (especially in relation to a heavily media-hyped story) DNA testing isn't the first thing authorities would do. I'm not even going to go through the last 90 minutes of the book, which, while full of suspension of disbelief, is at least fast-paced and lacking in depth enough to be painless.
